How to Stay Positive When Life Sucks ♥

We’ve all had those days/weeks/months when everything goes wrong, you’re stuck in a rut, and you’d rather curl up into a ball in bed. I’ve recently been struggling with a lot of stress and just an overall feeling of ‘I-don’t-want-to-be-out-of-bed-rn.’ Because of this, I devised some steps to take whenever I was feelings poor and I have decided to share them with you.

 1. Do something for yourself

Wether it be eating something delicious, having a hot bubble bath, or retail therapy, I find that doing something for yourself that you love can really help to get out of a slump. It’s so important to take time out of your day to do something for you. We spend so much time worrying about other people and making them happy that we forget the most important person - ourselves. By doing something nice for yourself, it can really make the difference that you need.

 2. Meditation and Journalling

I have recently started to meditate, then journal before I go to bed. At 9pm I turn my electronics off and listen to my favourite meditation app (Headspace), once that is over I pop into bed and write down some thoughts in my journal. Not only is this great to let out some steam, you also get to know yourself more and understand how you think and feel.

 3. Increasing positivity

When you’re in a negative environment and surrounded by negative people, that negative will inevitably cling onto you. I cannot stress how important it is to remove negative people in your life. If that isn’t possible, try to surround yourself by more positive people and to make friends who will be good influences.

 4. Affirmations

I know that affirmations seem lame, but trust me on this one - they really do work! Whenever I’m feeling down; I tell myself something positive and uplifting, wack on a fake smile and then in no time, I feel fab again!

 5. Go for a drive/walk/run/hop/etc.

I find that one of the best ways to clean your head is to just jump in the car and drive. You don’t have to know where you’re going or what you’re doing, you just need to listen to dome bangin’ tunes and drive (at the speed limit) and think. Being outside in the world, and experiencing it can really help clear a stressed and anxious mind. Remember! Don’t forget to breathe in some fresh air!

Feeling down isn’t something to be ashamed of, it’s something that everyone goes through and it’s something that we should all embrace. I hope my tips and tricks help you in the future for when you’re feeling flat, please let me know down below how you’re feeling today!

 Love, Nicola

My Current Beauty Favourites ♥

Hello all and welcome to my first ever post!
I'm so excited to start this journey, and also share my current beauty favourites!

Over the past few weeks, I have been trying out new and different products and these are just some of my favourites - please enjoy!

Makeup Favourites

  1. My first makeup favourite is my Napoleon Perdis 'Camera Finish Powder Foundation' in Ivory Idol.
I have had this product for a while, and have loved every minute of it. I originally bought it for my debutante ball to use as a finishing powder, and let me tell you, it kept my makeup in place al night - and that night was a sweaty one! This powder is great to put over the top of foundation and concealer, but it also works amazing on its own to perfect that 'your-skin-but-better' look.
  2. My next favourite (which is probably my most favourite) is my L'Oreal 'True Match' liquid foundation is Golden Ivory.
I have heard about this product so many times and kept putting off buying it - but I finally did and my foundation game has stepped up! The foundation itself is yellow toned, which is great for pale skinned people such as myself, and is so easily blendable and buildable which allows you to achieve your desired coverage. Oh! And it has SPF which just makes this product even better!
  3. I have also heard about this product countless times, and for good reason! The Tarte 'Lights, Camera, Lashes' mascara is now my go to. I lived off of Mac's 'Opulash' for years and then I discovered this product and I have not looked back. With one thin layer of this mascara, my eyelashes are about the same length as the Great Wall of China. It isn't clumpy (yay!) and also holds a curl really well (yay!).
  4. The next product is the Mac 'Cremesheen' lipstick in Modesty.
I love a good lipstick, but I never have the guts to wear a killer lippie out in the open but this product gives me the confidence I need! This muted pink-nude lipstick is the perfect shade for any occasion, and the cremesheen finish moisturizers your lips and doesn't crack them like a lot of lipsticks do.
  5. My last makeup favourite is my Raspberry Lip balm by Newton & Buchanan.
This product smells incredible! It smells like a huge packet of red licorice and tastes the same. I really love this lip balm because it's so smooth and nice on the lips, tastes amazing and also give the lips a nice red sheen.
Other Beauty Favourites
  1. This first product is Victoria Secret's 'Sheer Love' fragrance mist.
First off, the packaging for this product is gorgeous - nuff said. This mist smells amazing! It has that classic, feminine, spring time smell that everyone loves and it lasts the whole day. The plastic bottle is also a great idea because it makes the product easy to travel with.
  2. This next product in the 'Daily Oil Elixir' by Schwarzkopf.
I'm always scared to use oil on dry hair but this product has changed that! I put one pump of this on the ends of my hair every night before bed, and I wake up with tangle-free, soft and shiny hair!
  3. The final product in my favourites it the Garnier 'Micellar Cleansing Water'.
I have heard this product over and over and over, and I bought it on a whim the other day and OHMYGOD. This product gets rid of my full face of makeup in under three minutes, and leaves my skin feeling soft, even, and bright. Another great thing about this product is the price. This product cost me $9, and it's good for 200 washes. Normal make-up removing wipes cost $4-5 and are good for only 25 washes. Uhm, is there even a downside to this product?!

I hope you enjoyed my current beauty favourites! Please follow my social media accounts to keep up with my future posts!
